The following check list is designed as just a guide, collected from many years of experience, to help you to decide who’s doing what and when. It’s the most special day of your life so you don’t want to forget any one or any thing. Remember we’ll be available as often as you need us, to discuss and amend plans to your satisfaction, so that your day is nothing short of perfect.

The Groom:

Buy wedding ring for bride
Arrange the ceremony
Choose best man
Hire morning suits
Order flowers for the Bride, Bridesmaids, Bride’s Mother & Groom’s Mother for toasts.
Arrange honeymoon
Arrange for cars if required to & from Church or registry office
Prepare speech in response to The Bride & Grooms toast
Propose toast to the “Beautiful Bridesmaids”
Choose gifts for Bridesmaids & Best Man
Agree catering arrangements with Bride and Hotel

Best Man:

Arrange stag night and look after the groom!
Look after the rings
Organise cars and passengers from church
Reply to the bridesmaids toast and prepare speech to embarrass the groom! - Propose toast to “The Parents”
Return the Groom’s, Best man’s and Ushers hired suits

Bridesmaids:

Arrange hen night and look after the Bride
Choose clothes with Bride
Chief Bridesmaid (Matron of Honour) takes charge of Veil and Bouquet during and after ceremony.

Bride’s Father:

Double check transport arrangements
Order/prepare own morning suit
Respond to “The Parents” toast

Bride’s Mother:

Arrange printing of invitations
Send invitations
Order wedding cake and oversee display
Order wines for dinner
Hire and instruct florist for church and reception
Order cake boxes
Arrange display of presents
Hire any extra cars needed
Contact local newspaper for announcement
Arrange entertainment
Hire photographer & video company

Bride:

Choose Bridesmaids & Matron of Honour
Select dress’s for you and bridesmaids
Book hair/nails/beauty appointment
Prepare and send out wedding present list
Agree catering arrangements with Groom and Hotel

Groom’s Father:

Pay for all the above!!!
Preparing for that Special Day
Preparing for one of the most emotional and exciting days of your life doesn’t come easy or without its stress, by giving yourself lots of time most of the stress can be kept to a minimum. Firstly, remember that we have conducted hundreds or possibly thousands of weddings at The Close and, while each one is different and very special to us also, we do have years of experience, so please call us or come in and discuss your requirements as often as you like, the more we discuss and know the better the day will go.
Before you do anything else, decide on your budget and make the day fit your budget, not the other way around, with our help it will be easier than you think. Decide on your ceremony. Choosing a Church or The Close for your vows is obviously very important. At The Close we can seat up to seventy of your guests to witness you getting married. Experienced & sympathetic registrars, flowers, well trained staff, music of your choice and welcome cocktails combine to make a unique experience, coupled with the fact that it obviously saves money on limousine hire and also making sure that your guests are where their supposed to be and on time!
From the moment you walk in to The Close Hotel, let us take the strain - we thrive on creating Great Days.
The key factors in controlling your costs are deciding menus and number of guests. Do you invite all your guests to the ceremony and consequently the Wedding Breakfast or do you invite close family and friends during the day and every one else in the evening with maybe an additional buffet? We can help!
Decide on the type of food you want for your Wedding Breakfast and evening buffet, decide on whether you have champagne or sparkling wine or maybe Pimms on arrival. All these choices are indicated in the Wedding Packages page of suggestions, but remember they are only suggestions, if you want something and its not itemized just ask, the likelihood is - we can help.

The day is yours, you choose, come and discuss it with us, within reason we can make almost anything fit into any budget, providing we know what you want remember - We Can Help.
